Our Story
Caelion was founded by energy professionals who saw a gap in the Canadian market: organizations pursuing ambitious energy efficiency goals needed partners who could see the full picture, not just one piece of it.
Too often, program delivery was disconnected from engineering expertise. Strategy was disconnected from operations. Technology was disconnected from the people using it. Caelion was built to bridge those gaps.
The name Caelion is built from two roots: 'cael' from the Latin caelum, meaning sky, and '-ion,' the scientific suffix for charged particles. Together, it suggests energy from the sky: a nod to clean energy, electrification, and the higher vantage point needed to align policy, capital, technology, and implementation into practical solutions.
Today, Caelion supports utilities, government agencies, and private sector clients across Canada with energy efficiency program delivery, strategic advisory, and engineering services. We bring depth and breadth of energy expertise from both the provider and the consumer perspective, and we combine it with modern technology to deliver programs that support economic growth, reliability, affordability and sustainability.

Leadership
Todd Ernst
Chief Executive Officer
Todd is an experienced energy and sustainability professional with extensive expertise with industrial and commercial energy programs on both sides of the meter. In his years with CLEAResult and Willis Energy, Todd led the delivery of the IESO's industrial energy conservation programs. As Director, Energy and Environment at the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA), Todd led a large and diverse energy and sustainability portfolio that encompassed energy management, energy resilience and reliability, transmission and generation assets and energy export to the IESO grid. Todd's work on decarbonization at the GTAA included implementing low carbon hydrogen fuel infrastructure, renewable diesel, electrification, heat pumps and sustainable aviation fuels among other technologies. He leads Caelion's strategy, client relationships, and technical delivery.
Todd brings deep knowledge of the Canadian energy landscape, including managing distributed generation, micro-grid, demand-side management program design, industrial energy optimization, and sustainability. Todd has worked directly in asset management, finance and risk roles. He holds professional engineering (P.Eng), accounting (CPA), internal audit (CIA), energy verification (CMVP) and sustainability (Envision-SP) designations. His perspective spans both the technical and strategic dimensions of energy efficiency, enabling Caelion to serve clients who need partners that understand the full picture.
Anirudh Challa
Co-Founder & Director
Anirudh is a serial entrepreneur who is also the founder of Passer Digital Inc., a technology and program delivery company that powers Caelion's operational capabilities. He brings extensive experience in technology platform development, program implementation, delivery operations, and program administration within the Canadian energy efficiency sector.
Under Anirudh's leadership, the team has designed, built, and administered energy efficiency programs managing over $85 million in incentives and processing more than 9,000 applications with 100% payment accuracy. He provides Caelion's technology backbone and operational expertise.
